Yep! It’s another post for Baguio! 😂 This place has been my goto area nowadays. Isn’t obvious that i love the city?! ❤️ In April, our main itinerary was to go to Pulag and hike to celebrate my birthday week but decided to enjoy first before immensing ourselves in pain! Hahaha
Our Goal is to just Eat and Eat and Eat…
Then in October, i went here again to accompanied my friend, her very first Baguio experience! 😊
So here’s my little food guide:
1. Hill Station
The restaurant is located in Casa Vallejo, one of the oldest hotels in Baguio. It’s a Fine Dining resto in upper session road, so expect a bit pricey food here. If you’re gonna searched for good restos in the area, this place is always in the top 10.
a. Ambiance – Super cozy! The view of the pine trees are stunning! The whole place has a rustic appeal and has a finesse feels in it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – They have wide variety in their menu but i choose their best seller. The Slow roast beef! It’s tender and delectably mouth watering! So delicious! You can never go wrong with this. My bf ordered the Moroccan spiced Baby Back Ribs, which is also good but mine is better.
They also gave a free appetizer, some bread with olive oil with grind peanuts and pesto dip. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
c. Service – Just right tho’ serving of food is kinda’ slow, should learn to accommodate people in a faster way. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
d. Price – Just right for an average fine-dining restaurant. It’s pricier if you’ll be comparing it with other restos in Baguio. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
2. Cafe By The Ruins
The original Restaurant is located in Kisad Road just beside Eurotel at the end of Burnham Park. This is also famous among other restos in Baguio.
a. Ambiance – The place has this rustic feel aswell. I love how the interiors were placed. The bamboo decoration plus the creeping vines are nice for photo ops or selfies. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – To tell you prankly, i have high expectation on this one as this resto is also included in the top 10 list Baguio restos. I feel that the food the we ordered are just so so or AVERAGE. We got some lechon kawali, chopsuey, strawberry soda and their famous strawberry Cake. Would love to try their crispy tapa but is not available during our visit. 👍🏻👍🏻
c. Service – Slower than the usual. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
d. Price – High for the servings and for the taste. Didn’t met my expectations. 👍🏻👍🏻
3. Le’ Chef
Probably the king of Fine-Dining restos in Baguio. This is located in The Manor Hotel. The most expensive hotel in the City. This is also the location shoot of the famous Philippine Teleserye “Forevermore”. We were about to have lunch here but the crew told us that they have an event and we can only order small meals or merienda meals. So we were ushered in their dining hall inside the hotel.
a. Ambiance – Well it’s located in The Manor so expect some intimate feels in it. The Manor is your typical old grand hotel so the interiors are rustic, the lightings are gloomy with big chandeliers, high ceilings and that cozy fireplace, which reminds you of Santa Claus. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – We ordered some bacon cheeseburger and their famous Chef Pesto. The food is so so, i think i expected more. For the taste, i can actually have similar ones in a more cheaper restaurants. 👍🏻👎🏻
c. Price – This is a fine-dining restaurant so expect the unexpected, a 350+ price for a small burger is bleh! Right? And my almost 500 php bowl of Pasta is crazy! Well, the price that we paid isn’t right for the taste that we savour! I think, i should eat here again during breakfast (as this is what they’re famous of… the wide variety of Breakky Buffet) otherwise, i would skipped and just try to enjoy their grand garden! 👎🏻👎🏻
d. Service – Very Slow! Goodness… we were like 5 people dining in but the service is incredibly slow! Sigh….. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
4. 50’s Diner
The 1st branch is located in Leonard wood Road, but since our hotel is located in Upper Military Cut Off Road, we’ve learned that their 2nd branch is located 10 minutes from our hotel. This is actually part of our itinerary coz i heard good things about this place. So our curiosity gave in and went here to have our dinner.
a. Ambiance – The place is decorated by 50’s icons with some memorable old movie posters. The tiles are what a diner is known for, the color combination of black and white. Tho’ the whole venue has a canteen like mood, still a delight to immersed into that 50’s feel. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – The resto caters an old american fastfood menu. So expect some burgers, fries, fried chicken etc. So i ordered their Chicken plate composed of pizza, pasta and yeah fried Chicken. The taste is so so, well just an ordinary plate clone to Shakey’s Bunch of Lunch. 👍🏻👍🏻
c. Price – Very affordable so i’m not complaining. Tho’ i would rather choose to have a 2 pc chicken meal from KFC than the chicken plate here! 😼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
d. Service – It’s ok, fast and efficient tho’ my plate isn’t appetizing at all… oh well… 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
5. Grumpy Joe
This is also located in Leonard Wood Road, this is our 2nd option as our first is 50’s Diner which is located infront. But since that resto is full, we decided to give this resto a chance.
a. Ambiance – The resto has a perky feels. Vibrant colors are all over. Young students in Baguio has covered the entire restaurant. It’s nice as the area is filled with energetic young people. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – This resto is relatively new in the business. They also cater American Menu. I choose their best seller plate, another Shakey’s Bunch of Lunch clone. But this time, i got it right! The servings are abundant and the taste is brilliant! The drinks were serve in Mason Jars so its kinda’ cute. Absolutely, would return here again! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
c. Price – Right on the bucks! The servings, the presentation and the taste is just what you’re paying for but this time its more than what you expected! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
d. Service – I have no complains! Very fast and efficient! To think the resto is almost full at that time! Superb! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This resto is located in the Ketchup Food Community. It’s like a food park with lots of restos inside. I been hearing good things about this place so i made sure to give them a try before leaving baguio. The place is located infront of Wright Park, so if you’re coming from Session Road, you may take the jeep going to mine’s view park, alight infront of wright park (roundabout) and walk for 2 minutes to the Ketchup Food Community.
a. Ambiance – The resto is cramped and small but just right. Tho’ i wish they can transfer to a new location with bigger space to accommodate more people. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – Once you enter the Ketchup food community, the first thing you would noticed is the long line of people at the entrance. And yep, that line belongs to Canto! It would take a while before you snatched that coveted seats, but once your inside, there’s no turning back! We ordered their famous Baby Back Ribs with Mashed Potatoes and Caesar’s Salad. And absolutely, the taste is brilliant. The hard-work of lining-in paid of once you’ve tasted their “laglag to the bones” baby back ribs! Super soft plus the sauce is delicious. The salad in it has a great tasting vinaigrette also. Surely this place is highly recommended once you’re in Baguio! Don’t miss it! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
c. Price – Super affordable with super servings and its super delicious! I ain’t complaining! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
d. Service – The place is jam packed! It’s like watching a blockbuster movie. But the staff made sure that they serve and move faster. So no complains! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The original location of this resto is at the heart of Session Road. So once you reach SM Mall (assuming that you came from the upper side) , it’s location is easily seen at the right side of the road. This restaurant is famous for its delectable Strawberry Shortcake.
a. Ambiance – The original restaurant is old, that i think it badly needed some refurbishing. The ceiling and the walls are slightly delapidating. The lightings are gloomy and yeah as i’ve mentioned earlier, OLD! 😫👍🏻👎🏻👎🏻
b. Food – The only food that i’ve tried here is ofcourse their famous cake and cornedbeef breakfast. The serving is ok and the taste aswell, no complains. What i’m raving about is their Strawberry ShortCake! Indeed this is the best strawberry shortcake i’ve ever tasted in my entire years of existence! Hahaha. So everytime i’m in Baguio, i never missed a chance to have a slice of heaven! I even got a box and brought it home. Kinda’ hard to accomplished but i did it, for the sake of satisfying my cravings. O well, as i’m writing this, i’m now craving of this cake! Sigh… so near yet so far away! 😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
c. Price – The price is just right! For the taste of the cake, its just fine tho’ a little pricey but its ok! Atleast you can have a heaven on your plate for 100 bucks! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
d. Service – Not complaining, its fast and efficient! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is actually not an original Baguio Resto as we have this in Manila. I just needed to include it here as this is where we have our breakfast and some Dinner during our stay. Located at the Ground floor of Chalet Hotel (where we stayed) in the Upper Military Cut-Off road.
a. Ambiance – The place has a cozy feel as the area is slightly elevated. The view of the mountains in the restaurant is stunning! Had a nice breakfast view in here! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
b. Food – We had our everyday breakfast here during our stay. The food is of buffet arrangement. Tho’ limited in choices but just right! They have unlimited brewed coffee for hotel guests 24/7! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
c. Price – We had dinner one time in Dulcinea since we’re really tired and grumpy to go outside. We ordered their Sinigang. The taste is ok but the price is not! Hahaha… o well, this is what i’m expecting anyways. 😊👍🏻
d. Service – I think it’s ok since we’re hotel guests so we have the priviledged of having in room services! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
9. Cafe By The Ruins Dua
This the 2nd branch of Cafe by the ruins. Has a modernized appeal located at the upper session road near Panagbenga Park. We went here to have breakfast.
a. Ambiance – It’s modern and cozy, has big windows at the 2nd floor.
b. Food – We ordered their breakfast set, a choice of omelette, bread or rice, fruits and your choice of drinks. I must say that the breakfast servings are huge and satisfying. The taste is okay for its price. My omelette is a bit oily tho’ but its fine.
c. Price – Set meals are reasonably priced coz of the huge servings.
d. Service – A bit slow.
10. Good Taste
One of the highly recommended restaurants in Baguio. We give this resto a try just before we went back to manila and was glad we did! Located at the upper side of Burnham Park, near Cafe by the Ruins.
a. Ambiance – This restaurant has a School Canteen feels in it. The entire vicinity is very huge.
b. Food – The food is unbelievably Good. Such a catch!
c. Price – Has a very affordable price, has huge servings and taste good aswell! Can’t go wrong with this place.
d. Service – Its crazy to call the servers, a very huge restaurant with a lot of people but the service is fast! So two thumbs up!
11. Pizza Volante
This is also a highly recommended pizza parlor in Baguio city. They have a branch in the middle of session road but the one we’ve tried is inside Camp John Hay
a. Ambiance – Has nice feels in it. The pine trees of Camp John Hay adds drama to the cozy feels of the restaurant.
b. Food – The food is average, not actually my cup of tea. So so…
c. Price – A bit overpriced for the taste
d. Service – The service is very poor! Took a very long time to get out orders, absolutely crazily hungry waiting for it to come. Then when it comes, the food is cold and the taste is blah…. 😢
