Bali is an island located near East Java in Indonesia. Unlike most of the country which is predominantly Muslims (or Moslems), this province is mostly Hindus.
Bali is a famous honeymoon destination because of its pristine beaches, diverse culture, numerous high-end resorts and that undeniable BALI charm.
Well, This is actually the highlight of my travel plans last year. After eyeing Indonesia for so long, finally got the chance to step my foot to one of the most romantic places in the world.
Planning begun as early as June of 2015, when i luckily snatched a seat sale from Cebu Pacific Air. Just for the record, getting a seat sale in my propose itinerary with a good travel date is as difficult as putting a thread in a needle. But hooray! Got one last December!
We departed around 4:00 AM via Cebu Pacific Air Flight in NAIA Terminal 3. It’s better to take the earliest flight if your time is limited.
We arrived at 7:50 AM in Ngurah Rai International Airport at Denpasar, Bali Indonesia. The airport gives you a glimpse of what Bali has to offer. From architectural pieces to carpeted floor, the aura is very classy and superior.
Prior to this i’m aware of the misfortune of my kababayan who went to Bali airport but were disrupted because of false accusations. If the Philippines have a “tanim bala” scheme, here they have a “tanim droga” (drug planting) incidents. So please be aware of your belongings and don’t talk to any strangers.
We were picked by my arrange tour guide , the ever so reliable and kind Gede Arsana. He even offer his pocket wifi for free, so surfing and live feeding your friends on facebook while in the road is not a problem. 😃 You may contact him here: email@example.com

“At the façade of the cave is a relief of various menacing creatures and demons carved right into the rock at the cave entrance. An extensive bathing place on the site was not excavated until the 1950s. These appear to have been built to ward off evil spirits” – excerpt from Wikipedia

Did you watched Eat Pray Love? Well, the movie is based on a book by Elizabeth Gilbert. Starring Julia Roberts, the story focuses on Gilbert’s self discovery after her divorce.
Ketut Liyer happens to be the healer who advises Gilbert on what her life should be, how to spend it and how to appreciate herself. Gede told us that Ketut is already 100 years old, (Ketut was played by Hadi Subiyanto in the movie) and only does the healing in the morning with a few selected people. The picture below is his son, who does the healing also.
- Tegallalang Rice Terraces
This rice terraces is small probably just a portion of the Philippines pride which is the Banaue Rice Terraces. I know i’m bias about this, so just scroll down… hahaha
- Coffee Plantation – with free Sample of Coffee
The home of Balinese Coffee and Civet Coffee. The area has a nice coffee shop facing the rice terraces. The ambiance is fantastic!
6:00 PM – End of Tour
- Arrival at the hotel in Ubud
Check-in at Gajah Biru Bungalows – Jalan Raya Penestanan, Kelod, Sayan, Ubud Bali Indonesia
Located at the heart of Ubud, around 15 to 20 minutes away from the main city. A bit far from the restaurants and bars. But don’t worry, they are offering free ride to and from the city.
Everything is spotlessly clean. Can’t go wrong with this place.
Had a pleasant experience at Gajah Biru. Their Jasmine Villa offers privacy, tho’ this villa offers two rooms. We have a quiet relaxation, as we have the entire pool all for ourselves. They offer a generous breakfast plus free coffee and tea. The room is large with king-sized bed. The bathroom is also big with tub and decorated with traditional Bali ornaments. Upon arrival we were greeted by cold towels and a refreshing fruit juices. My only complaint is that the area needs a bit of lighting especially at nighttime. But over-all, everything is nice and fantastic!
7:00 PM- Freshen’ up and have Dinner – FREE
Our hotel gave us a complimentary one night Dinner at their restaurant! Talk about hospitality!
- Ubud is the quiet side of Bali. More on culture and arts, so don’t expect large bars with loud music here.
6:00 AM – Breakfast – Free. Had my first taste of Bali Breakfast
8:00 AM – We arranged our free service to the city in Gajah Biru and told the driver to pick us up at around 6 pm that afternoon.
We started our walking tour in Ubud Palace
then walk our way to Pura Taman Saraswati located at the back of Starbucks Coffee and Cafe Lotus
We headed towards Jalan Monkey Forest to Ubud Art Market
At the end of the street is the Monkey Palace – Entrance : Rp 30,000
Please be mindful of your belongings, the place is literally full of monkeys. Those little punks can be very naughty and grab anything and everything, so be careful.
Lunch – Rp 150,000 (per person)
- More WALKING
Around 4:00 PM, we headed back to Ubud Palace and had dinner at the famous Ibu Oka and got my first taste of Bali’s Babi Guling. This dish is same as our lechon except that the skin is thinner and crispier, this is a must for everyone who visit Bali! So delishhh!!!
So don’t forget to try this famous dish.
Dinner – Rp 138,000 (2 pax)
After dinner, we saw our driver and we headed back to our bungalow and just Pool Bum!

We finished our tour at around 6:30 PM.
- Check-in at Hotel Neo Plus Kuta Legian – Tropozone St. no. 8 Legian Kuta 80361 Bali Indonesia
Centrally located, near to almost Everything and Anything
The room is small but spotlessly clean.
This hotel is good for a night or 2. Strategically located in an alley slightly away from the main Legian street. While our room is located facing the pool area, we can still hear the loud sound of the bar just across the street.
Walk Around the Beach – Bali beach has fined sand but not as gorgeous as the beaches in the Philippines. I may sound bias but the beaches in my country are the bomb!
- Beach Walk – Legian
- Kuta Square Matahari Mall
- Ocean 27 Kartika Plaza Mall
- Discovery Shopping Mall
Dinner – Rp 104,000 (2 pax)
Kuta and Legian area may not be suitable for all. Being here is like submerging yourself in Hell for a night. Tho’ the area is accessible to the main spots like the beach, shopping and restaurants, the transformation began after the sun dims. This place is full of foreign drunktards at night, the whole street is almost full of youngsters with a bottle of beer on hand.
We did settled here coz of its proximity to the airport, if not for our early flight the next day, I would prefer settling in Seminyak, Jimbaran or Uluwatu.
So please practice precautions if you choose to stay here. Remember YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
6:00 AM – Breakfast – Free
7:00 AM – Check-out
- Service to Airport – Rp 90,000 (2pax) – there’s Grab Taxi/car in Bali. And since our flight to Yogyakarta is around 10 AM, we checked-out early. The airport is only 15 mins. away from Legian.
I love Bali in all senses. I love the artsy feeling of Ubud and the fanciness of Balinese Temples. Tho’ the beaches didn’t impressed me, the whole feeling is still there and i would still love to go back. Probably experience the whole pampering of those lavish resorts in Seminyak, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua. A visit to Potato Beach Club is a must, since i totally forgot about it when i was there (after eyeing for it for so long! “sigh”). My next would focus on the nature part of Bali and the so called ADVENTURE and a grand RELAXATION!
