Bohol is one of the Philippines’ wonder City. It’s where the nature and adventure collide. Located in the Visayas Region, the province is consists of numerous old churches, fine white sand beaches, houses the famous chocolate hills, extreme adventures and the land of Tarsier (its that little creature with cute, big eyes, only found in the Philippines).
Of all the provinces in the Philippines, this would probably one of my highly anticipated places to visit. Been eyeing to visit those century old churches for a long time. Blame it on time, he’s not permitting me to do it not until now. Unfortunately, the province was struck by an earthquake, few months before my highly anticipated vacation. The churches were greatly damaged! Many of each collapsed into pieces. 😔
Greatly saddened by the situation, i opt to stick with my plan and go on. I thought Bohol needed my support now than before. Their tourist industry was greatly affected. We came here from Cebu, but there are many flights from Manila that are flying to and from Tagbilaran. The city capital of Bohol.
There are several airlines plying from Manila to Tagbilaran:
a. Cebu Pacific Air: http://www.cebupacificair.com
b. Tiger Air: http://www.tigerairways.com
c. Air Asia: http://www.airasia.com
d. Philippine Airlines: http://www.philippineairlines.com We went to Tagbilaran from Cebu via Taxi. You can actually ride Multi-Cab from your hotel as there are many routes going to Pier. 8:30 AM – 2Go Supercat to Tagbilaran – P530
10:30 AM – Arrival in Tagbilaran
- Take Tricycle to Alona Beach, Panglao – P250 (P125/pax)
> This is around 30 mins. Tricycle ride
- Leave Luggages at Panglao Regents Park Hotel (Ester A. Lim Drive Tawala, Panglao)
- The main Beach is walking distance from the hotel. Around 5-10 mins. walk
12:00 PM – Lunch – P200
Breakfast: Don’t offer free breakfast which is SAD
A bit old. Furnitures and lightings need improvement.
Located near the main road and a 5-10 mins walk to the beach. The area is a bit secluded, tho’ there are few restaurants near by. But not a lot. If you want to eat and have some varieties, just head down the beach area.
The area near the Pool is recommended as the ambiance is very nice. The room is so so. Nearborhood is quiet, not a lot of restaurants. Bars are a few aswell, some closes at 11 PM or 12 PM. 4:00 PM – Beach Bumming (Alona Beach and Dumaluan Beach) >Alona Beach is relatively small with crystal clear water and white sands.
- Dinner – P350
> The next day, we opt to do our Bohol Tour via the service of Kuya Tatsky (0922-3671051)
> One can actually do a DIY trip, but it’s not advisable since the sights are quite far from one another. Also public transportation is hard in Bohol. It might eat a lot of your time. Here’s our proposed Itinerary
- Blood Compact Site (real & fake)
- Baclayon Church
- Bohol Habitat (Butterfly Farm)
- Tarsier Encounter
- Loboc River Cruise – P450 (lunch)
- Man Made Forest
- Chocolate Hills
- Hanging Bridge
- Hinagdanan Cave
- Bohol Bee Farm – Buy Dinner and Honey – P550
The TARSIERS > This is what Bohol is known for, these tiny, wide-eyed looking creatures, the Tarsiers.
Loboc River Cruise > Another fav of mine. Eating and Chilling plus you get to see the beauty of Loboc.
Chocolate Hills > The ever famous tourist site of Bohol. Consists of small mountains, we call it Burol in Tagalog.
Bohol Bee Farm
Uniquely flavored icecream
Back to the Hotel Pool Swimming / Chill
7:00 AM – Tricycle to Tagbilaran Airport – P250 (P125/pax) 10:10 AM – Departure from Tagbilaran Airport to NAIA T3 via Cebu Pac 5J 618 11:25 AM – Arrival My Trip to Bohol is short but meaningful. Every tourist attraction is worth a visit. I hope one day, i can explore more, or do the adventure side of this province.
